“Psychopomp was born from a nightmare. On my honeymoon, I dreamed of caring for a child, even as it literally tore my new family apart,” said director Paul Etheredge.“Firstly, though, Psychopomp is a horror movie: thrilling, scary, grotesque, fun, and funny.”
“Aside from the compelling characters, dark humor, and constant sense of dread, I was really drawn to Psychopomp because of the emotional reality of the story. I have heard so many heart-wrenching stories about the trauma of children, especially for children of color, being shuffled from foster home to home and never having a sense of safety or belonging. So, we have a young girl, who’s never felt safe and a family adjusting to being new parents who find themselves facing a terrifying force that threatens to destroy them all, producer Jeffrey Reddick said in a statement.
